April 9, 2006: Helen, Ga to Hiawassee GA...16.1mi
Must have been in the 60s again all day, perfect for Backpacking... Hardly broke a sweat while maintaining our 2mph average... We've been extremely fortunate with our hitchhiking being picked up by other hikers within 10 min each time both into and out of Helen and again into Hiawassee... Were hoping for more good luck there... Thanks again to Robyn and Dave for the ride back out the trail from Helen...
(1) Nice vista early on todays hike with Joe and I
(2) Our first snake...OHHH
(3) Tray Mtn wilderness was pretty challenging but I think were getting our "hiking legs"
(4) Some of the many flowers lining the trail in what is otherwise noted as a desolate hardwood forest (5) Resting at another vista later in the day...hardwoods as far as the eye can see...only a few pines out there...very different from Maine...

Hi Gene,
Jackie said I could post. & she's fine you should be told.
I would contradict if I may be so bold.
More often I should call,
then she woouldn't feel like bawl.
Good luck and safe journey across the state miles.
Hopefully you won't see many of those reptiles!
Looks and sounds like you are having a great time so far. I look forward to reading your updates.
Take care, Joe
